Carrying the same potent eugenol-rich composition as conventional Clove Bud Oil — powerful antimicrobial, antifungal, analgesic, and antioxidant properties — the organic certification provides additional assurance of pesticide-free cultivation and production, meeting the requirements of certified organic personal care and natural health product formulations.

Applications:

  • Certified Organic Personal Care (organic toothpastes, oral care, antimicrobial formulations)
  • Organic Aromatherapy (immune-boosting, warming, certified organic diffuser blends)

What “organic” needs to be backed by

An organic claim is only as good as its paperwork. For a certified organic essential oil, buyers normally ask for the supplier’s organic certificate from a recognised certification body, with the standard it is certified to, the certificate number, its validity dates and a scope that covers this product. Many schemes also issue a transaction certificate for each shipment, which is what links a specific batch to the certified supply chain. If the finished product is to carry an organic claim or logo, the brand’s own certification scheme sets which standards and documents it accepts, so check that before ordering.

Same chemistry as conventional bud oil

Organic certification covers how the cloves were grown and handled, not the oil’s composition. Organic clove bud oil has the same eugenol-, eugenyl acetate- and beta-caryophyllene-led profile as conventional Clove Bud Oil, the same bud-versus-leaf distinction, and the same allergen and IFRA considerations: eugenol is a declarable allergen restricted by IFRA by product category.

Storage

Eugenol darkens with air, light and iron. Store sealed, cool and dark in non-reactive containers.

What to ask for on the certificate of analysis

  • Species (Syzygium aromaticum) and plant part (bud)
  • Organic certificate: certification body, standard, certificate number, validity and product scope
  • Transaction certificate for the shipment, where the scheme issues one
  • GC profile with eugenol, eugenyl acetate and beta-caryophyllene quantified
  • Physical constants: relative density, refractive index
  • Declarable fragrance allergens and a current IFRA certificate
  • Country of origin and batch number
