What "nutraceutical-grade" means to a buyer

"Nutraceutical" is a trade term rather than a legal category in most markets. So "nutraceutical-grade" has no single official definition. In practice, buyers use it to mean a raw material backed by documents strong enough for supplement registration and audit.

The documents that make the grade

  • Specification sheet: every parameter, its limit and the test method used.
  • Certificate of analysis: one per batch, matching the specification and signed by the quality team.
  • Halal certificate: check the certifying body, the scope, the expiry date and acceptance in your markets.
  • Stability information: storage conditions and a retest or expiry date supported by data.
  • Traceability: a batch number that links back to source material, site and country of origin.
  • Quality system: the manufacturing site's GMP or food safety certification, such as HACCP or an ISO food safety standard.
  • Declarations: allergen, GMO, irradiation and residual solvent statements.

How the FC products fit

Both branded mushroom extracts under this tag come from FC Materials, which supplies them from a global partner and does not manufacture them.

Formulation notes

The FC product pages list capsules, tablets, powders, sachets and functional beverages as formats for both ingredients. Before scale-up, check flow, moisture pick-up and dispersion in your own base. Confirm how opened bags should be stored and resealed.

What to ask your supplier

  • The full Latin name and the part used, fruiting body or mycelium.
  • Identity test method and marker compound assays.
  • Heavy metals, pesticide residues, mycotoxins and microbiology results.
  • Recent batch COAs, not only a typical analysis.
  • Change-notification terms if the source or process changes.
