Chlorella Extract (10:1) is a concentrated botanical extract derived from Chlorella vulgaris, a single-celled freshwater green algae widely regarded as one of the world’s most nutrient-dense superfoods. At a 10:1 concentration ratio, this Halal-certified extract provides a potent dose of chlorophyll, complete proteins, vitamins, minerals, and Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF) — the unique bioactive complex found only in chlorella.

Chlorella is particularly valued for its heavy metal chelation and detoxification properties, as well as its exceptional nutritional density.

Applications:

  • Nutraceuticals (detox supplements, heavy metal cleanse formulations, immune support)
  • Sports Nutrition (recovery blends, green superfood powders)
  • Functional Foods (green powder blends, superfood bars, health drinks)
  • General Wellness (daily nutritional supplement formulations)

Key Features & Benefits:

  • 10:1 concentrated nutrient-dense chlorella extract
  • Rich in chlorophyll, complete protein, B12, iron, and Chlorella Growth Factor
  • Supports detoxification and heavy metal chelation
  • Halal-certified & food-grade quality
  • Suitable for capsule, powder, and tablet formulations

Whole-cell powder or extract

Chlorella is usually sold as a whole-cell powder or tablet. Its tough cell wall limits digestibility, so suppliers often “crack” or break the wall during processing. A 10:1 extract is a different product: it concentrates water-soluble components and leaves much of the protein and fibre behind. Ask which form this is, and whether the cell wall is broken.

“Chlorella Growth Factor”

“Chlorella Growth Factor” (CGF) is a trade term for a hot-water extract fraction, not a defined chemical compound. If a grade quotes a CGF figure, ask how it is measured.

Safety points

  • Pheophorbide: breakdown of chlorophyll during poor processing or storage can form pheophorbides, which have caused skin photosensitivity. Some markets limit them in chlorella products.
  • Vitamin K: chlorella contains vitamin K, which matters for people taking warfarin-type anticoagulants.
  • Contaminants: as an algae grown in water, chlorella should be tested for heavy metals and microbiology, and the growing method (open pond or closed system) should be stated.

Other green ingredients include Moringa Extract and Alfalfa Extract.

What the research says

  • A 2026 meta-analysis of 24 studies found small reductions in body weight (1.28 kg), BMI, body fat, insulin resistance, LDL cholesterol (6.20 mg/dL) and total cholesterol with chlorella. The certainty of the evidence was rated very low for most outcomes, and the authors advise caution. [1]
  • In people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, a 2026 meta-analysis of 7 trials (375 participants) reported improvements in liver enzymes, fasting glucose and blood lipids. All trials were conducted in Iran, and the certainty of the evidence was rated very low. [2]

These summaries describe published research on the ingredient. They are not claims for any finished product; claims on finished products must meet the rules of the market where they are sold.
