Reishi Mushroom Extract (10:1) is a concentrated botanical extract derived from Ganoderma lucidum, one of the most revered medicinal mushrooms in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) — known as Lingzhi, the ‘Mushroom of Immortality.’ At a 10:1 concentration ratio, this Halal-certified extract delivers a potent dose of triterpenoids (ganoderic acids), beta-glucans, and polysaccharides — bioactive compounds responsible for reishi’s immune modulation, adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, and longevity-associated properties.

Reishi/Lingzhi is deeply familiar to Malaysian consumers and is one of the most premium and recognised botanical ingredients in the Asian health supplement market.

Applications:

  • Nutraceuticals (immune modulation capsules, adaptogen and stress relief blends, longevity formulations)
  • TCM Supplements (Lingzhi compound formulations, liver and kidney tonic products)
  • Oncology Support (complementary cancer wellness supplements)
  • Functional Beverages (Lingzhi health drinks, mushroom coffee blends)

Key Features & Benefits:

Species, part and extraction

“Reishi” and “lingzhi” are trade names. Taxonomic work has shown that much of the lingzhi cultivated in East Asia is a separate species, Ganoderma lingzhi, rather than the European G. lucidum, so ask how the supplier identifies its material. The part also matters. Fruiting body, mycelium and spore powder are different raw materials with different compositions.

The extraction solvent decides what ends up in the powder. Hot-water extraction mainly carries polysaccharides. Ethanol extraction carries the bitter triterpenes (ganoderic acids). “Dual” extracts combine both. A 10:1 ratio describes the extraction, not the content, so compare grades on measured polysaccharides and triterpenes.

Test methods

As with other mushrooms, colorimetric “polysaccharide” tests include starch and sugars. Beta-glucan by an enzymatic method, with alpha-glucan reported separately, is a more meaningful figure. Triterpenes can be reported as a UV total or as individual ganoderic acids by HPLC; the two are not interchangeable.

Contaminants

Mushrooms can accumulate heavy metals from their substrate, so lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury results matter. For a branded mycelium grade with documented polysaccharide content, see Reishivive®.

What to ask for on the certificate of analysis

  • Species and how it was identified; fruiting body, mycelium or spores
  • Extraction solvent (water, ethanol or both) and extract ratio
  • Polysaccharides with the method; beta-glucan (enzymatic) and alpha-glucan
  • Triterpenes with the method (UV total or HPLC)
  • Heavy metals (Pb, Cd, As, Hg) and pesticide residues
  • Microbiology: total plate count, yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella
  • Carrier (if any), Halal certificate, batch number, manufacture and retest dates
