Bitter Melon Extract 10% is a concentrated, standardised extract of Momordica charantia delivering a guaranteed minimum 10% charantin content — the primary bioactive glycoside responsible for bitter melon’s hypoglycaemic activity. This standardised grade ensures consistent potency batch-to-batch for pharmaceutical-grade blood sugar management formulations.
Applications:
- Standardised blood sugar management supplements
- Diabetic health and metabolic syndrome formulations
- Functional food and nutraceutical capsule/tablet products
- Traditional Asian medicine product lines
Key Features & Benefits:
- 10% charantin — standardised, guaranteed potency per batch
- Higher concentration than standard Momordica extract
- Supports insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism
- No animal substance – halal-certified
- Fine brown powder, suitable for encapsulation and tableting
What the 10% is measured as
“Charantin” is a mixture of steroidal glycosides (mainly sitosterol and stigmastadienol glucosides), not a single compound. Bitter melon extracts are also standardised on total saponins or bitter principles, by different methods. A 10% figure by UV or gravimetric method and a 10% figure by HPLC are not the same material. Ask which marker and method the guarantee refers to before comparing prices.
Standard and standardised grades
FC also offers a standard grade: Bitter Melon Extract. The standardised grade fixes a marker figure per batch, but it is only as useful as the method behind it, so the method should be the same on every COA.
Vicine
Vicine, found mainly in bitter melon seeds, is associated with favism in people with G6PD deficiency. Ask whether seeds are excluded and whether vicine is controlled.
Safety in formulation
Products that may lower blood glucose can interact with diabetes medicines, and blood-glucose claims are tightly regulated. Brands should review both. A related botanical is Gymnema Sylvestre Extract.
What to ask for on the certificate of analysis

- Vicine content, or a statement on seed exclusion
- Heavy metals, pesticide residues and residual solvents
- Microbiology: total plate count, yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella
- Carrier (if any), Halal certificate, batch number, manufacture and retest dates
